In 1987, Brown Thomson and Co. housed the first major comedy venue in Connecticut, when the Last Laugh Comedy Club opened in the rathskeller of the restaurant. The rathskeller offered a smoky, dark atmosphere typical of the era. During that time, relatively new acts, Kevin James, Ray Romano, Jay Mohr, Sarah Silverman, and Denis Leary graced our showroom stage.
With the ever changing economic climate of 1997, the original owners of Brown Thomson and Co. opportunistically renovated and expanded the interior of the restaurant, re-opening with the name City Steam Brewery Café. With this new name change, the comedy club became unanimously known as the Brew HaHa. Since the beginning, we have showcased the comedy stars of today and tomorrow in our 200 seat showroom. Located in the heart of downtown Hartford, the Brew HaHa is just steps away from well known theaters such as the Hartford Stage and The Bushnell. The Brew HaHa provides the same high quality performances one has come to expect in this art-filled community.
